About cable management

Cable management keeps cables supported, separated and protected. Trays and ladders carry large numbers of cables on main routes; conduits protect individual circuits; ties and junction boxes finish the installation.

Material and finish follow the environment: pre-galvanised steel indoors, hot-dip galvanised steel outdoors and in humid areas, and stainless steel or GRP where corrosion is severe.

The cable management we supply

Each line below explains what it is, where it is used, and what to include in your enquiry so we can quote accurately.

01
Cable Trays

Perforated Cable Trays

Perforated trays support smaller and medium cables with ventilation through the base. Bends, tees, risers and reducers are needed at every change of direction.

Typical applications

  • Control and instrumentation routes
  • Building services
  • Panel rooms
  • Light power runs

What to specify

  • Width and side height
  • Thickness
  • Finish: pre-gal, HDG, SS
  • Length
  • Fittings and covers

Buying noteList straight lengths and fittings separately, with covers if required.

02
Cable Ladders

Cable Ladders for Heavy Power Cable Routes

Ladders carry heavy power cables over long spans with good ventilation. Rung spacing and side rail strength determine span and load capacity.

Typical applications

  • Main power routes
  • Substation to plant
  • Outdoor pipe racks
  • Vertical risers

What to specify

  • Width and rail height
  • Rung spacing
  • Load and span
  • Finish
  • Fittings

Buying noteGive cable load per metre and support spacing so the ladder is rated correctly.

03
Conduits

Electrical Conduits: PVC, GI and Flexible

Conduits protect cables mechanically. PVC suits concealed and light-duty work; GI conduit suits industrial and exposed routes; flexible conduit connects to vibrating equipment.

Typical applications

  • Concealed building wiring
  • Exposed industrial runs
  • Motor connections
  • Outdoor equipment

What to specify

  • Material
  • Diameter, e.g. 20–50 mm
  • Wall thickness
  • Fittings
  • IP-rated glands

Buying noteState material, size and total length with bends and couplers.

04
Cable Ties

Cable Ties and Fixings

Cable ties secure cables to trays and bundle wiring. UV-stabilised nylon suits outdoor use; stainless steel ties suit high temperature and corrosive areas.

Typical applications

  • Tray fixing
  • Panel wiring
  • Outdoor routes
  • Bundling

What to specify

  • Length and width
  • Material: nylon or SS
  • UV resistance
  • Tensile strength

Buying noteSpecify UV-resistant ties for any outdoor route.

05
Junction Boxes

Junction Boxes for Field Terminations

Junction boxes house connections in the field, typically with terminals and gland entries. Material and IP rating follow the location; hazardous areas need certified boxes.

Typical applications

  • Instrument marshalling
  • Lighting circuits
  • Motor field connections
  • Outdoor equipment

What to specify

  • Size
  • Material: ABS, polycarbonate, steel, SS
  • IP rating
  • Terminals and entries
  • Hazardous area rating

Buying noteState terminal count and gland entries along with size and IP rating.

Selection guide

How to Choose Cable Management Systems

Start from the cables and the route.

  1. 1

    Cable load

Cable count, size and weight decide width and type.

  2. 2

    Span

Support spacing affects the required strength.

  3. 3

    Environment

    Decides material and finish.

  4. 4

    Fittings

Count every bend, tee and riser from the layout.
